CouchReel Terms of Service
Effective date: September 16, 2026
1. Acceptance
By creating a CouchReel account or using the CouchReel app or website (couchreel.com), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
CouchReel is operated by Liquid Monks, LLC, an Illinois limited liability company based in Chicago, Illinois, United States ("we", "us").
2. The service
CouchReel is a movie & TV companion: it helps a household decide what to watch, tracks what you've watched automatically, and lets you build lists and follow other users. CouchReel is currently free to use.
CouchReel uses the TMDB API for catalog data (titles, artwork, cast, availability). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Availability/"where to watch" information comes from TMDB's data and can be incomplete or out of date — always confirm on the streaming service itself before assuming a title is available where shown.
3. Accounts and households
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. A household is a shared space you either create or join by invite; anything you or another household member adds to shared lists, watch history, or the watchlist is visible to the rest of that household by design — that's the product, not a bug to report.
You must be old enough to consent to these terms under the law where you live to create an account.
4. Your content
Lists, comments, ratings, and profile info you create are yours, but by posting anything you mark public, you're allowing other users (and, where applicable, search engines and link previews) to see it. Don't post anything you don't have the right to share, and don't post anything that violates our community guidelines (harassment, hate speech, illegal content, impersonation, and the other reasons listed there). We can remove content or suspend accounts that violate the guidelines, and you can report content or users you believe violate them from inside the app.
5. Acceptable use
Don't: scrape or bulk-extract data from CouchReel outside the app's own import/export tools; attempt to bypass household or privacy boundaries; use the service to harass, impersonate, or endanger anyone; or use it in any way that violates applicable law. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.
6. Subscriptions (CouchReel Plus)
CouchReel Plus does not exist yet. The core decision loop, tracking, household features, and free-tier item limits (there are none) are free today and will stay free. If/when CouchReel Plus launches (proposed at $3.99/mo or $29.99/yr per household, not owner-final), this section will be updated before that happens with real pricing, billing cadence, cancellation terms, and how in-app-store billing (Apple/Google's own subscription terms, which apply on top of these) works. Nothing in this draft should be read as a live pricing commitment.
7. Third-party services
CouchReel relies on third-party services — TMDB for catalog data, streaming providers you're linked out to, our infrastructure and hosting providers, and (if you use them) Google/Apple sign-in and push notification delivery. We don't control those services and aren't responsible for their content, availability, or terms. Using a streaming provider CouchReel links you to is subject to that provider's own terms, not ours.
8. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from Settings; this cascades your data as described in our privacy policy. We can suspend or terminate your access for violating these terms or the community guidelines, and will do so consistent with the safety process described in our community guidelines.
9. Disclaimers
CouchReel is provided "as is." We don't guarantee that availability information is always accurate or current (see §2), that recommendations will always match your taste, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We aren't a streaming service ourselves and don't control what's actually playable where a provider says it is.
10. Limitation of liability
CouchReel is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Liquid Monks, LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits or the cost of substitute services, arising from your use of CouchReel. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or fifty US dollars (USD 50). Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits; where that is the case they apply only to the extent permitted. You agree to indemnify Liquid Monks, LLC against claims arising from content you post or from your breach of these terms.
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Either party may bring an eligible claim in small-claims court instead. Nothing in this section limits consumer-protection rights you have under the law of the place where you live.
12. Changes to these terms
We'll update this page and its effective date when these terms change, and for material changes (like introducing CouchReel Plus billing terms) we'll notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
