WATCH ORDER

X-Men Watch Order (All Films, 2026)

X-Men · Updated Sep 15, 2026
The X-Men film universe is famously tangled: two different timelines (pre- and post-Days of Future Past), an R-rated Deadpool sub-series that mostly ignores continuity for laughs, and standalone Wolverine films that sit awkwardly next to both. Release order is the practical answer — it's how the ret-cons were designed to land, and Days of Future Past explicitly exists to reconcile the two timelines so you don't have to pick one. Deadpool crossed into the MCU proper in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), covered in our MCU guide.

Where to start if you only have a weekend

Logan (2017) works as a nearly standalone film and is the franchise's critical high point, but it lands hardest if you've seen at least the original trilogy first. For the cleanest on-ramp, X-Men: First Class (2011) is a self-contained period piece that doesn't assume you've seen anything else.
