Halloween Watch Order (All Timelines, 2026)

Halloween · Updated Sep 15, 2026

Michael Myers has three separate, mutually-exclusive continuities, each of which throws out some or all of the sequels before it. There is no single watch order — you have to pick a timeline. All three start from the same 1978 original.

The original timeline (1978–1981)

1.
Halloween (1978) — TMDB 948
2.
Halloween II (1981) — TMDB 11281

Thorn Trilogy branch (ignores H20/Resurrection)

Continues from Halloween II, then jumps forward with a new mythology.

1.
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) — TMDB 11357
2.
Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989) — TMDB 11361
3.
Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995) — TMDB 10987

H20 branch (ignores 4–6, retconned)

Also continues from Halloween II, but pretends 4–6 never happened.

1.
Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998) — TMDB 11675
2.
Halloween: Resurrection (2002) — TMDB 11442

Rob Zombie reboot duology (standalone origin)

1.
Halloween (2007) — TMDB 2082
2.
Halloween II (2009) — TMDB 24150

The Blumhouse trilogy (2018 direct sequel, ignores every other sequel)

Picks up 40 years after the 1978 original only — Laurie Strode's other sequels never happened.

1.
Halloween (2018) — TMDB 424139
2.
Halloween Kills (2021) — TMDB 610253
3.
Halloween Ends (2022) — TMDB 616820

Anthology detour (not Michael Myers)

Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) — TMDB 10676 — a standalone anthology entry with no Michael Myers; skip unless you're a completist, or watch purely for the Silver Shamrock jingle.

Where to start if you only have a weekend

Watch the 1978 original, then jump straight to the 2018 Halloween — it's a direct sequel to only the first film and gives you the cleanest, most modern take without any of the branching continuity above.
