Two continuities that don't touch. Don Mancini wrote and eventually directed every entry in the original line — seven films plus a TV series, one continuous Chucky (voiced throughout by Brad Dourif) across nearly 35 years. Separately, a 2019 reboot restarts from zero with a new "Buddi" doll concept and no returning cast or crew from the original.

Where to start if you only have a weekend
The 1988 original still works on its own and is the true starting point for the long continuity — everything through Cult of Chucky and the TV series builds on it. If you just want one scary toy movie with no homework, the 2019 reboot is the fully self-contained option.
