TV Time was the biggest casual show-tracking app for years — checking in an episode the moment the credits rolled, with a friendly, social feel most trackers didn't bother with. It shut down permanently on July 15, 2026. Its parent company, Whip Media, cited the cost of running the platform and a pivot toward enterprise artificial-intelligence products as the reason. Visiting tvtime.com or help.tvtime.com today (checked 2026-09-15) shows only a one-page "Thank You, TV Time Community" farewell notice — no app, no login, no data. The GDPR self-service export tool the company pointed users to before the deadline (gdpr.tvtime.com) is also unreachable as of this check.
What TV Time did well (while it existed)

Fast, low-friction episode check-ins — the app most people actually opened every night.

A social layer (friends' activity, reactions) that made tracking feel less like bookkeeping.

Broad TV coverage with a large, casual user base — reporting at the time of shutdown put registered users around 25 million.
Why it's gone

No sustainable path from a huge free user base to paying subscribers, by the company's own account.

Whip Media's ownership (acquired by Blue Torch Capital in early 2025) redirected the business toward artificial-intelligence enterprise products instead of the consumer app.

Users had until July 15, 2026 to pull their data through the export tool; the company stated personal data would be permanently deleted after that date. Based on this check, that data and the export path are gone now.
